Manager, The Bottle & Stoat

£25,500-£27,000 pa 

42.5 hours per week

We’re looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join the management team at The Bottle & Stoat, with the potential of also assisting at our sister site, Olaf’s Tun in Woolston. Working in collaboration with the business owners, you will be assisting with the day-to-day operation of a busy craft beer led location. This role is perfect for someone looking to pursue or continue a career in the beer industry.

Required:

  • Previous experience at management level in hospitality

Desirable:

  • Previous food handling experience
  • Previous experience within the craft beer industry
  • Previous experience working with cask ale

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Providing great customer service and building rapport with our customers.
  • Demonstrating a working knowledge of the products we sell (namely beer, wine, and cider) and conveying information to customers in a simple and engaging way.
  • Prioritising and delegating tasks during busy periods with a small team.
  • Cellar management:
    • Plan ahead and line up appropriate casks with enough time for tapping and venting before service
    • Line cleaning and general cellar hygiene
    • Quality checking draught products to ensure they are good for service
  • Kitchen management (Olaf’s Tun only)
    • Adhere to food safety standards and cleaning schedule
    • Making pizzas and light bites to a consistent standard
  • Assisting with maintenance of the PoS systems and purchasing spreadsheets.
  • Creating lists of produce and supplies that need ordering as and when required.
  • Ad hoc random tasks depending on the business’ needs. In the past these tasks have included: creating a Pokémon themed food menu, and ordering a cardboard cutout of one of the owners.
  • Posting to social media with varied and engaging posts.
  • Considering new strategies, ideas, and events to continue to drive people into the pubs.
